JOB POST: Policy Analyst/Organizer – Healthcare for All
Come help lead the fight for health care for all! The Campaign for America’s Future (CAF) and the Institute for America’s Future (IAF) seek a policy analyst/organizer to work on our campaign for universal healthcare. This person should have experience in developing and working with coalitions and should be a creative self-starter who can help drive progressive issues like universal healthcare into the national debate. This position will report to CAF’s co-director and will work closely with our online communications and press teams.
Responsibilities
* Work on broadening and strengthening coalitions to push for universal healthcare coverage
* Organize and support leading progressive policy intellectuals to get into the public debate
* Create and send weekly updates to activists on healthcare issues
* Work with our online communications team to define CAF’s strategic
online plans/campaigns and seize strategic opportunities
* Work with allies to organize grassroots community forums on health care for all
* Work with our press team to create reports, events, press releases,
and other actions to get earned media focusing on the need for
universal health care
* Work with congressional allies and
candidates to push them towards progressive solutions to our nation’s
healthcare problems
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Experience working for a non-profit advocacy organization and
knowledge of progressive and conservative politics, organizations and
policymakers
* Self-directed, proactive, highly motivated with
good planning and time management skills and ability/willingness to be
flexible
* Innovative and creative thinking with good analytical and problem-solving skills
* Excellent oral and written communication abilities and interpersonal skills
* Strong interpersonal skills, team player and ability to work well with others
* Well organized with great attention to detail
* Commitment to organization’s mission
* Passion for progressive causes
Qualifications
* Bachelors degree from an accredited college/university in public policy or a related field
* Four or more years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
* Working experience with coalitions on issue-based campaigns
* Legislative/Congressional experience
* Experience working on healthcare issues
Compensation / Benefits
Salary based on experience. Benefits include vacation, health insurance, healthcare/childcare flexible spending account, public transportation assistance and retirement plan. CAF/IAF offers a comfortable, creative work environment that welcomes diversity.

I'm not sure what the hold-up is... maybe they have re-thought their stance on how this is going to actually make the company any money. Or perhaps their lawyers pointed out the liability of providing agents a platform to stick their feet in their mouth. Whatever it is, it's hardly something I'd claim as being "Well done".
